Crown, a well established company with interests in several different market sectors came to us at Labyrinth Solutions and told us that they wanted to enter the highly competitive car rental market, and they wanted to do be a major player in a very short space of time!
Fortunately Crown have been very realistic in their budgetary expectations, both with the project itself, and with the need for high quality online marketing to drive targeted traffic to the site – both areas handled fully in-house by Labyrinth.
One key element of the site has been design clarity and usability. Crown already had a Mr Smiley character that needed to be incorporated into the site and Labyrinth have taken that concept a step further and designed a range of character variations that can be used for online and offline marketing.

The primary aim of this site is to conduct business. Accordingly the most important element is the booking engine and this has been specifically designed to quickly and easily take the user through the step-by-step online booking and deposit process. At each step, the viewer can clearly see all the elements added along the way, such as the car chosen, plus extras and insurance. At the end, the payment mechanism is smooth and flexible, allowing all major credit cards to be taken to secure a deposit.
An additional degree of complexity that Labyrinth offered Crown for its booking process was to allow for the 3 separate types of vehicle ranges – passenger, commercial and 4wd. As each has its own target market, only the relevant vehicles and extras are presented in the booking engine for each of the 3 sections.
Ongoing SEO (search engine optimisation) and SEM (search engine optimisation), plus banner placements are being managed by Labyrinth. These are the primary tools to drive the volumes and the right type of people to the website to then let it perform its roll of converting them into satisfied Crown clients.
