Blog Topics


Add-on Modules / Blog / Topics


A topic (or article) is the core of your blog.  The Contegro topic manager has all the tools you need to manage your blog content.


To manage topics, open the Contegro start menu and select Add-on Modules > Blog > Topics.

If there are no pending items, all topics will be displayed. If there are, then pending topics will be displayed on first load of the module.



Search fields are available if you want to locate a specific topic.

From the Topics page, you can:

Add topics

Edit topics

Delete topics

1.Click [New Topic].

2.Update settings in the [Edit Topic] tab.

Topic Title

Set the blog topic (or article) title.

Topic URL Name

Set the topic URL which is used to make up part of the URL string.
By default, this field is auto-populated with the blog topic title (above).


Set the topic author (optional).

This field is auto-populated with the name of the administrator currently logged in.


Set the topic date.
By default this field is populated with today's date. The date is used by the Blog Topic List module to sort topics from newest to oldest.


Select a topic image (optional).

Click the [...] button to select an image in the images folder.


TIP: To remove the selected image, delete the image file path from this field.


Add a brief summary about the topic (optional).


Enter relevant keywords or phrases that describe the blog topic (or article).

These keywords are used by the Search module.


SEO Tip:  A new tag (meta name="news_keywords) released by Google is added to the page where the Blog Comment List module resides. This tag uses the Blog Topic keywords to help Google News better understand the nature of your content.


Tag your topic to link it to other site content.

Enter a tag or select a tag in the dropdown and hit Enter or Return on your keyboard.


NOTE: These tags are used by other add-on modules to generate a 'related' list. For example, the Product Details page could display related blog articles.


Enter one or more email addresses (comma delimited) (optional).

An email notification will be sent to each address whenever a blog comment is added via the Blog Comment List module.


Select one or more categories to associate your blog topic with.

Publish Start

Set the topic publish start date or leave blank to start publishing from today (optional).

Publish End

Set the topic publish end date or leave blank to keep publishing indefinitely (optional).

Publish Start Time

Set the topic publish start time, or leave blank to set 00:00 by default. This can only be set in 15 minute increments using the dropdown.

Publish End Time

Set the topic publish end time, or leave blank to set 23:45 by default. This can only be set in 15 minute increments using the dropdown.


Set topic permissions (optional).

By default, topics will be public unless the category they belong to has set permissions.


Set the topic status.

Topic Classes

If your site has custom list styling requirements, you can use the tickboxes in this field to apply a class (or classes).


Designer Tip: Use the List Manager to add/remove classes to the Blog Topic Classes group.


3.Write article in Editor tab.

4.Click [Save].

SEO Tip:  The following meta tags have been added to the page(s) where the Blog Topic is displayed.  These tags tell social media sites what to show:

Edit Topics

1.Click [Edit Topic].

TIP: Use the search filters to narrow the topic list and locate the topic you want to edit.

TIP:  Find out more about using the content editor to format textinsert imagesadd links, etc.


NOTES: You can use more than 1 email to receive notifications (eg. comments) on the topic. Use a semicolon to separate emails


3.Click [Save].

Delete Topics

Use the Status dropdown or click the Delete icon in the Topic list.

Click [Edit Topic], select Deleted in the Status field and click [Save].
