Add Content

Content / Editor

 

Here are two useful topics that we recommend you read - Writing Web Content & Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

 

To manage content in the editor - open your page (double click on page or right click and select [Open].

NOTE: To add a content module to any container - (1) Click Add Module. (2) Select Content in the dropdown.

Within the content editor, you can:

Manage text

Insert links (internal/external/email)

 


Manage text

1.Open the content editor to insert and format/style text.

Add content to new page

2.To add text:

a.Type in the editor,

b.Right click in the white area and select Paste Plain Text, or

c.Click Paste Plain Text

TIP: If you paste plain text into the editor, use backspace and enter on your keyboard to separate paragraphs before adding styles.

3.Use the predefined styles for consistent formatting across your site. Highlight text and select a suitable heading or paragraph style.

NOTE: Some HTML can cause styles to display incorrectly. The following tools can help you to strip unnecessary HTML from the editor before applying styles:
- Format Stripper (Editor ribbon)
- View Source (HTML tab)
- RemoveElement (editor toolbar)

4.To preview your edits, switch to Preview or Preview edit view mode. When all text has been added and formatted, click [Save] or [Publish].

Insert images

When you have uploaded your images to Contegro:

 

1.Open the content editor.

2.Place your cursor in the area where you want to insert the image and click [Image Gallery].

3.Open the image folder, select an image, update the dimensions and properties as needed and click [OK].

TIP: Before you upload images in the Insert Image window, check the general site settings to see which file types are allowed and the max. upload size.

Dimensions

Original Size

Set the image size to its dimensions at the time of upload.

Custom Size

Set a custom size of the selected image.

 

Lock Size Ratio - Check this box to lock the aspect ration when setting a custom size.  If you change one dimension, the other will automatically adjust; maintaining the shape/proportions of the image.

 

TIP: Do not shrink or enlarge an image to more than 10% of its original size as this may cause pixelation.  We recommend using image optimisation software to resize images before uploading them to Contegro.

Percentage

Use percentage to increase/decrease the image size.

Properties

Align

Set the image alignment when inserted into the content editor.  NotSet defaults to left alignment.

Border

Enter a pixel value to add a border (e.g. 1 = 1px border).  Enter 0 or leave blank to remove the border.

VSpace

Enter a pixel value to add vertical padding to the image.
E.G. 1 = 1px spacing above and below the image.

HSpace

Enter a pixel value to add horizontal padding to the image.
E.G. 1 = 1px spacing to the left and right of the image.

Alt

Add a ALT tag to the image.

The tag is displayed in place of the image if it is blocked or not displayed on the webpage.

 

Key Info: Search engines have shown they consider ALT tag text when the image contains a link to another page. Add one or two targeted search terms to the image ALT tag(s) if the image links to another page within your website. See also: Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

Title

Add a title tag to the image.

The text entered in this field is displayed when site users place their mouse over the image.

4.If the image is not inserted in the correct area of the editor, drag it to a new position.
To set the alignment, margin, etc, select the image and use the options in the toolbar or right click on the image and select Properties.

Properties

Width & Height

Enter a pixel value to resize the image.

Link the chain to lock the image size ratio.

Set the image alignment.

Border Colour

Use the colour picker to select a border colour.

Border Width

Enter a pixel value to set the border width.

Alt Text

Add a ALT tag to the image.

Long Description

This is an Accessibility option. The text entered in the 'Long Description' field will be read by the Windows Narrator tool.

Displays the filepath of the selected image.

Margin

Enter a pixel value in one or more fields to add padding around the image.
E.G. 1 = 1px.

5.To preview your edits, switch to Preview or Preview edit view mode. When all text has been added and formatted, click [Save] or [Publish].

Insert links

When you have inserted your text/images, use either element to create a link on your page.  Within the editor, you can link to internal pages, documents and products or external websites. You can also customise your mailto links (i.e. email links).

 

1.Select text or an image and open the Hyperlink Manager.

2.For hyperlinks: Enter the target URL or select an internal link option. Update the settings as required and click [OK].

TIP: For email links, open the E-mail tab,  enter the address and click [OK].

URL

Type or paste the target URL into this field (e.g. http://www.contegro.com).

Internal Link

Choose one of the options in the dropdown and select the target:

Web Page

Document Manager

Document Library

Product Catalogue

Link Text

Use this field to edit the link text selected in step 1.

If an image is selected in step 1, this field is hidden.

Target

Use this field to control how the link is opened when selected.

 

TIP: We recommend using the 'New Window' target option when creating external links.

 

Preset Targets

None

If no target is specified, the target URL will open in the same window/frame.

Same Window

Opens the target URL in the same window/frame.

New Window

Opens the target URL in a new window/frame.

Parent Window

Opens the target URL in the parent frame.

Browser Window

Opens the target URL in the current browser window, but independently of the rest of the frameset to which it currently belongs.

Search Pane

Not relevant to Contegro product.

Media Pane

Not relevant to Contegro product.

 

Custom Targets

[add custom target...]

Opens the target URL in a custom target window.

Existing Anchor

See Anchors for more information.

Tooltip

Enter a short description of the target URL. Your site users will see this text when they hold the mouse pointer briefly over the linked text or image.

CSS Class

Optional - Select a predefined style to apply to your link text.

 

3.To make the link live, click [Publish].
