Manage Your Web Pages using Contegro

Content / Editor > New Page

 

The Editor is the central area for managing your website content/pages. You can open multiple pages simultaneously; allowing quick updates across several areas of your site.

 

To access the Editor and edit your website content, open the Contegro Start menu and select Content > Editor or use the shortcut on the desktop.

Common content management tasks that are carried out in the editor include:

Copying pages

Add pages to your website

1.Within the Editor, right click on the parent location in the site tree and select [New Page].

Note: The site tree menu options vary according to your admin account group permissions.

 

2.Set the page attributes and click [Save].

Page Label

Enter the page name.

This label is displayed in the site tree and navigation (menu).

Template

Select the template that will work best with your new page.

Child Menu Order

Set the order of any child (or sub) pages that may be added to this page in the future (e.g. About Us > History).  Use the order of pages in the site tree or alphabetically.

 

Note: If this page is stand-alone (i.e. no child pages), this setting will be ignored.

Show on Menu

Use this setting to show or hide the page label in your site menu.

This setting is used by the Navigation module.  If you uncheck this box, the menu label in the site tree will change to light grey.

 

TIP: If this page is hidden, use the View URL option in the site tree menu to view/copy the page URL.

Show on Search Results

Use this setting to show/hide the page in the search results.

This relates to your internal website search engine, not external search engines such as Google.

Show on Sitemap

Use this setting to show/hide the page in the sitemap.

Open New Window

Use this setting to open this page in a new browser window/tab or in the same window when opened via the menu.

Secure Page

Use this setting to make your page secure.

Two possible uses for SSL are obtaining credit card details or securing your client login area. To use SSL you must first have a certificate on your site. Please see your web development company for more information.

SEO Name

Set the page URL (e.g. www.contegro.com/about-us)

This field can only contain up to 50 alpha-numeric characters and hyphens.  Using keywords in the URL helps people understand what they can expect to see when they visit this page.  Read more about structuring URLs here.

(Meta) Title

Use this field to add a meta title that accurately describes your page.

This is a critical SEO tool and relevant keywords should be incorporated into the title.  Provide page specific and write a unique meta title for each page.

(Meta) Description

Use this field to add a meta description that accurately describes the content on the page.

This is a critical SEO tool and relevant keywords should be incorporated into the title.  Provide page specific and write a unique meta title for each page.

Meta Keywords

The current recommendation is that field is left blank or hidden as data in this field does not influence search engine rankings.
If you cannot see this field, see General Site Settings > Keyword Meta Tag.

Robot Follow Links

Use this setting to control whether external search engines can crawl links on your page.

Robot Index Page

Use this setting to control whether external search engines display your page in their search results. Certain pages such as 'Thank you' or 'confirmation' pages can be set to 'No Index' where as pages with valuable content such as 'Contact Us' should be indexed.

Capture Page Hits

This setting is used internally. If the box is checked, the number of page visits will be stored in your site database and used by the category list module to sort items by popularity.

Notes: (i) Once saved, the page status defaults to Inactive and the state of the page is set to Saved.  (ii) A saved page is locked to all other administrators until it is published or the saved edits are reverted.

 

3.Once saved, your new page will open in a tab. There are several core and add-on modules you can use to generate content with the most common being the Content module which uses a WYSIWYG editor for easy formatting of text and insertion of images.

Note: Default modules are added by default and can be managed globally via the Template manager if needed.

4.To add core or add-on modules to your page, look for the [Add] button and select a module in the dropdown.  Once inserted, you can use drag-and-drop to move or reorder modules.

NOTE: If there is no [Add] button, this indicates that the container has been locked in the Template manager.

 

5.To preview changes, switch to Preview or Preview edit view mode. Remember to Save draft changes or Publish when ready to make the changes live.

Copying pages

1.To copy/duplicate an existing page - open the Contegro Start menu and select Content > Editor.

2.In the Editor, right click on the page you want to copy and select [Copy] menu.

3.Complete the settings and click [Save].

Label

Enter the page name.

This label is displayed in the site tree and navigation (menu).

SEO Name

Set the page URL (e.g. www.contegro.com/about-us)

Copy To

Set the parent location for the copied page.

Click on the dotted button and select a page in the site tree pop up.

Copy Type

Select from one of the following options:

Duplicate - Create an exact copy of an existing page that is independent from the original.

Single Source - Link the original and copied pages.  Any published changes in the Content module will update the original and copied pages.

Template

NB: This field is only displayed when copying pages from one site to another.  If you are creating a copied page on the same site (selected in the Site Selector menu), you will not have the option to select another template until the copied page has been created.

 

By default, the Template dropdown displays the template set in the page attributes of the original page selected in step 2.  To change the template for this page, select from one of the options in the Template dropdown to set the layout of your page.
